Billy Goat
Old La Honda East
We'll meet at 9:45AM near the restrooms at the NE corner of Ponderosa Park (811 Henderson Ave, Sunnyvale). This is a bit later than usual, as getting to Sunnyvale, from the south, by car is no fun during rush hour! We'll take Old La Honda to Skyline, with a visit to Buddha and steel animal sculptures! (see Oct 2020 B&BB for details and pictures. New route is all pavement, however.) Ride ends at the Sunken Gardens Golf Course, 1/2 mile from the start, which has a great outdoor patio, a variety of hydration choices, and award-winning BBQ. The ride is rated "L(a)M(e)" because I'm slow on Goats and I'll be riding my heavy antique (50 minutes on OLH)! (Approximate route )

Please review the ACTC Covid-19 Ride Guidelines prior to riding.

Big Basin - Gazos Creek / Middle Ridge

Mountain Goat
Big Basin State Park
NOTE: You must procure a parking pass into Big Basin by visiting : https://www.cognitoforms.com/FSCSP1/bigbasinparking ... if you wish to park at the ride start. Here is our route: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/7029102/big-basin-loop ... Looks like there are short steep sections. I would guess similar to those on the El Sereno trail. ..Bring all extra supplies, lunch, binoculars. Extreme heat will cancel the ride. No cell service in the park. According the ranger, pedal assist bikes are ok. Please check yourself with the park before committing.

Please review the ACTC Covid-19 Ride Guidelines prior to riding.

Autumnal Equinox
Welcome to Autunno! Inspired by a friend's nickname for me, we will start from Whole Foods Market (near Diridon station), and journey for spectacular sights. This ride is for those who do not wish to travel far or fast. Will this be your recovery ride or main event? As usual, if you bring your "sorrisi" (smiles) and "racconti" (stories), we will stop for "spuntini" (snacks). I can adjust my speed to accommodate slower riders. Please bring your liquids and tools for any unfortunate events, and check the e-list for any last minute updates. Berry West 669 237 7283 or califitalif@gmail.com

There are off-tarmac segments which are doable by road bike tires or walkable with SPDs/flat soles. Gravel, Eroica and Mountain bicycles do well here. 23 mm wide tires do not. E assist bikes may face some restrictions and are difficult to portage or may be disallowed on steep single track sections. Starting at Almaden Lake Park by the bocce ball courts, we will ride streets to enter Calero Park from the Almaden Road side, make the counter-clockwise loop and exit to McKean Road to return. About half of this ride is dirt: fire roads and not very technical single-track with some loose rock in spots, but does req. skills beyond the typical road ride. The terrain is suitable for hybrid, gravel or mountain bikes with tires of 35 mm or more. Most climbs are <=6-7% with some very short, steeper pitches. Alternatively, join us about 10:45 at the RwGPS point marked TH to avoid riding the paved sections on your knobbies. Email or text me if you plan on meeting us mid-ride. [Route map]
