Let's do some climbing to build up an appetite for the ACTC Fall Picnic. Start/end at Fowler Creek Park (where the picnic will be held).
We will start with a warmup climb up Aborn, then head over to the challenging climb up Quimby. We'll take a brief water break at Grant Lake before descending Mt Hamilton and winding through Alum Rock Park then head back south. For those with energy left, we will finish with a nice climb up Chaboya before rolling back the park.
Please RSVP here if you plan to attend the picnic. 02-11-2025 10:00:00 02-11-2025 12:00:00 6 ACTC: Fall Picnic - Goat Getter Prep 30 mi, 6 MB , 4050 ft: Let's do some climbing to build up an appetite for the ACTC Fall Picnic. Alviso Slough Trail
Meet in the west church parking lot, corner of E. Hamilton Ave and Leigh Ave, San Jose. We will ride up the San Tomas Aquino Creek trail, do an out and back on the levees (construction limits our ability to do a loop) and return via the Gaudalupe River Trail. About 9 miles of this ride are on hard-packed dirt but easily ridden on standard road bikes. Since that section is out and back, early turnaround is possible if it's uncomfortable (the first mile is usually the worst). Shorebird sightings and salt pond views are typically impressive. Regroups as necessary and as always, no one left behind. Optional food and drink at the Pruneyard less than a mile from the start. 03-11-2025 09:30:00 03-11-2025 11:30:00 6 ACTC: Monday Mixed Terrain - Alviso Levees 39 mi, 1 LM , 415 ft: Meet in the west church parking lot, corner of E. Breakfast Ride
Meet me at 8:15 AM (rolling at 8:30 AM) at the Ponderosa Park restrooms (811 Henderson Ave, Sunnyvale) for a visit to the best donuts in town, prior to Anthony Flores' ride...or meet us at Stan's Donuts around 9:00 AM.
It's only 4.3 miles to Stan's, then 3.3 miles to the Rose Garden. I'm padding the schedule a bit to allow for long stop lights and not being late to the Rose Garden.
If you're driving in from the south, beware of slow rush hour traffic!

The seasons are changing and it's once more time to mount our trusty steeds in search of fall colors. Come join me on a tour past the vibrant trees in Menlo Park and the stately mansions in Atherton, across the yellow Meta Bridge, and - after a 'bring your own' picnic lunch at Cooley Landing - through residential Palo Alto and Los Altos back to our starting point.
Meet William Mueller at McKenzie Park for a 9:30 AM sign-in, 9:45 departure. This will be a socially paced ride with lots of time to gawk, take pictures, and socialize. Co-listed with Western Wheelers

We'll head over to Santa Cruz to take in some of the great trails through the redwoods. The route is all singletrack on some of the more popular trails. We should avoid the heavy beach traffic to and from Santa Cruz by riding during the week. Be prepared for roots, twisty trails and a few minor obstacles. There will are lots of options, so we can tailor the ride to participant preference. Be self-sufficient (no facilities) and ready to ride at 10:00. This should be fun! 11-11-2025 10:00:00 11-11-2025 12:00:00 6 ACTC: TrailRoller - Pogonip to Wilder 16 mi, 3 M , 1900 ft: We'll head over to Santa Cruz to take in some of the great trails through the redwoods. Starting at 10:00 pst from Diridon Transit Center, we will head N on Guadalupe River Trail for spectacular sights. This area is very public transit friendly. As usual, if you bring your "sorrisi" (smiles) and "racconti" (stories), we will stop for "spuntini" (snacks). I can adjust my speed to accommodate slower riders. Please bring your tools for any unfortunate events, and check the rides bulletin for any last minute updates. If you think you might be late, call/txt me and I can wait a reasonable amount of time. TrailRoller - Los Gatos Turkey Ride
8:00 AM

Sierra Azul-Kennedy,Sierra Azul-Priest Rock,Sierra Azul-Limekiln Ridge
This is the annual Los Gatos Turkey Ride. It starts in front of Summit Bikes. If you are not familiar, hundreds of people ride up Kennedy Road and then Kennedy Trail to the top. This is a long, steep fireroad climb. There will be people riding (or walking or catching their breath) at all paces. People typically bring food or drink to share with everyone else at the top. To return, the brave people can ride down Priest Rock and Limekiln (this can be intimidating) or retrace your route up. This is a lot of fun and gets you home in time for everything else on Turkey Day.

Due to crowds, it may be difficult to assemble at the start. If you miss me, send me a text or email with your ride info. This is a "drop ride" but there lots of people riding with you and you won't get lost. Warning: MidPen usually turns away people on e-bikes that do not have a mobility disability.
