Message from the ACTC President
by
Larry Brandt
Need for new board members.
In the next few months we need
to look ahead to our club elections.
Several board members have put
in two years and want to go on to
other things. Those retiring are: Vice-president, Penny Carl;
newsletter publisher, Steve Sloan;
ride coordinator, Tyler French;
membership chair, Dick Caron; and
secretary, Mary Paquet.
They have donated many hours to the club at these volunteer jobs.
They have done excellent work in their various capacities and deserve
many thanks.
Thanks also to Paul Vlasveld who wants to stay on as club treasurer.
Past president David Hoag continues to make many valuable contributions
to the board and club. I am volunteering to run for president for
a second year.
We are forming a nominating committee to select a new slate of
candidates. If anyone would like to be on the nominating committee,
please e-mail me at ljbrandt@sbcglobal.net, or call me on the phone.
And if you would like to run for an office, please contact me or Greg
Hernandez who will be on the nominating committee again.
While being a member of the board does require a commitment of
time and work, it is very satisfying to be on the team which steers our
great club. We manage to have a good time while we work! The jobs
do require computer and organizational skills. The vice-president
finds interesting speakers for club meetings and occasionally facilitates
general club meetings in the president’s absence. The publisher assembles
the newsletter and may have to learn the publishing program.
The ride chair works closely with the ride scheduler, settles ride leader
issues, and works with committees designing new rides. The membership
chair manages a large database of membership and mailings. The
secretary takes minutes at meetings, keeps track of issues requiring
action, and needs good computer skills.
So we are looking forward to hearing from some of you. We have
many talented and dedicated members. Share your skills! Please consider
keeping our club the great group it is by running for office. |
